This piece was done during my first AP art studio experience in Junction, TX. There was a wonderful teacher, an icon really, named Bill Lockhart who built these fabulous kites. Eager to teach those of us interested, he showed us how to make sled kites out of brightly colored trashbags. And they flew very well. Bill is no longer with us, but I think of him fondly each time I look at this work. It hangs next to my computer for inspiration. The Kite, 1997 |
