Kaitlin Kanatzer receives threatening letters that promise dire consequences if she doesn’t stop her suffragist activities. Bent on solving problems on her own without interference, she blocks every attempt Bryce makes to help her. Can she abandon her convictions and open her heart to love?

Bryce Stanton is at his wits end in dealing with his new responsibility. When he becomes guardian to an eleven-year-old hoyden, he seeks the girl’s aunt Kaitlin for help, never realizing the danger he must confront. Through many trials, he discovers more than a desirable woman; he discovers his equal.

Kaitlin’s independent streak and Bryce’s protective streak clash so well and powerfully that the story was entertaining and exciting to read. Reading Kaitlin’s story made me truly thankful that there were women in history who were willing to fight for women despite the odds stacked against them. Another reason that I really enjoyed this novel is due to the fact that it had everything in it. Some stories are very philosophical and its aim is to show the good or the bad in that particular ideal. Other stories have just the romance or the mystery or a combination of the both. However, this novel had all three. The principles of the suffragist movements, the mystery of the threatening letters to Kaitlin and the romance brewing between the two main characters all worked together to create a very well-rounded story.

This is a great novel and I would recommend it to anyone looking for an entertaining and thought-provoking read." Check out the rest of the review at Long and Short Reviews Blog.

Being an independent woman is something to which I can relate. At the same time, I am happy to relinquish a few things to my husband. Ms. Gold has a story worth its weight in gold. I loved this historical romance. I have not laughed very hard in a long time and this story had its moments where I could not keep quiet. Kaitlin and Bryce may butt heads along the way but I could only hope that they would end up in each other’s arms. Read the rest here.
